Educational Therapist (Literacy/Numeracy)
At the start of her teaching career, Sheryl worked at the Ministry Of Education (MOE) main stream Primary schools, running a full time English literacy curriculum at the middle to upper primary levels.
Sheryl has worked for many years in both neighbourhood and SAP schools, focusing on nurturing the academic and holistic well -being of children, with low academic readiness and SpLd.
Sheryl is well experienced in working with children with SpLd within the mainstream school setting, supporting them in literacy, basic numeracy and study skills. Sheryl was selected to helm the Reading Remediation Program for her schools focusing on children aged 9 to 10. This led to assignments in other schools to support children with specific literacy (e.g. hearing impairment) challenges.
Sheryl’s experience is supported with a Bachelors in Social Studies (Economics, University of Windsor, Canada). Her undergraduate years prompted her interest in the education arena. This led to her Master Degree in Early Childhood (University of Monash, Australia), Certificate in Dyslexia and Literacy Teaching (DAS, Singapore)and Certificate in Supporting SPLD Learners in English Literacy Exam Skills (DAS, Singapore) and HANDS-ON learning through Workshop in Understanding Dyscalculia (DAS, Singapore), Engaging SpLd children through art.
Sheryl continues her passion volunteering her teaching experience in community outreach programs.
